Now-a-days you get bombarded with fancy fitness programs, macro counting, equipment, and specialized plans and it can get overwhelming for those of us who want to become healthier. While there’s certainly nothing wrong with these things they can often overwhelm some of us who aren’t as educated about fitness to the point to where we don’t take action. However, there are simple, practical steps you can take to become healthier that don’t break the bank, or explode your brain.

If you want to get in the best shape of your life, and become a professional athlete you’re obviously going to have to get educated, and put in some hard work; but if you want to just generally become healthier it doesn’t have to be that complicating.

become healthier

1. Hydration

The most simple and beneficial thing you can start doing right now is cut out soda and sugary drinks. Our body needs water, it doesn’t need coffee, gatorade, or apple juice. While this is a simple adjustment you can make it doesn’t mean it won’t be hard. The sugary drinks we are all so used to are highly addictive and hard to break away from. However, if you can manage to do it. The health benefits you will see are phenomenal.

Another important thing is the type of water you are drinking. Not all water is good for you. Most of it is certainly better than the drinks we mentioned above but if you want to go the extra mile you should consider drinking water that has an alkaline level in the ph 7.0-8.5 range. There are a few different companies who sell water machines that can achieve this, and there are a few companies who sell alkaline water but you still have to consider the contamination from plastic containers. Use glass containers as much as possible.

2. Stretch More

When you’re getting started in fitness, especially if you’re badly out of shape, going to the gym can be very hard on your body. If you’re not careful with your workouts the impact can be bad for your joints and you can risk injury. Stretching is a great way to become healthier and it helps greatly with injury prevention. It will help you become more flexible, your mental focus will increase, and you will feel more capable of performing your workouts safely when the time comes.

3. Intermittent Fasting

Nutritional lifestyle changes are hard to make. Food addiction is very real and the bad part is that unlike hard drugs, food is completely legal haha. So that means it’s readily available at all times. In my opinion food addiction destroys just as much if not many more lives than drug addiction. Intermittent fasting is a great way to lose weight without making really heavy changes to your diet. You still want to be conscious of what you eat, but fasting is more about when you eat. If you’d like to learn how to lose weight without changing your diet dramatically so you can still enjoy your favorite foods. Check out THIS GUIDE on fasting.
